ReadStats Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 16, 2026
ReadStats is a Chrome extension by Ramiro Fernandez, Argentina. It shows the reading time of web pages and, for Pro users, a readability report. This policy explains what it collects and why.
What stays on your device
- Reading time and word count are calculated in your browser. The page's text is not sent anywhere for this.
- Your settings (whether the button is shown, where you moved it, sites where you hid it) are stored locally in the extension.
What is sent to our server
- Account: your email address, and a hashed password if you sign up with email. If you use "Continue with Google", Google shares your email address and basic profile with us. Authentication is provided by Supabase.
- Readability report (Pro only): when a Pro user opens the report, the text of the current page is sent to our server to calculate it. The text is processed in memory and not stored, logged or shared.
- Plan: whether your account is Pro.
ReadStats does not collect your browsing history, does not track which pages you visit, and does not use analytics or advertising.
Payments
Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, the merchant of record. We never see your card details; we receive a confirmation of payment and use it only to activate Pro.
Third parties
- Supabase — accounts, database and the readability server
- Lemon Squeezy — payments
- Google — only if you choose "Continue with Google"
We don't sell or transfer your data to anyone else, and we don't use it for anything unrelated to the extension's features.
Your rights
You can delete your account and its data at any time from the extension (popup → Delete account), or by emailing us. Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data. Under Argentina's Personal Data Protection Law No. 25,326 you may also contact the Agencia de Acceso a la Información Pública.
